Use these tips before and after waxing
- Let hair grow out for two to three weeks, hair should be at least 1/8 inch long.
- The day before your appointment, exfoliate with a body scrub the areas that will be waxed.
- Take aspirin or ibuprofen an hour before your appointment if pain and discomfort is a main concern and/or use a pain reducing gel or cream 30 minutes beforehand.
- Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing service.
- Hydrocortisone may be applied at home after waxing if skin is sensitive and prone to white bumps.
- Avoid wearing tight clothing over freshly waxed areas to minimize the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs. 24-48 hours after body hair removal waxing, exfoliate the skin with a fragrance free scrub containing salicylic acid, not a loofa sponge or used washcloth (for they may harbor bacteria and cause a breakout) to prevent the dead skin from accumulating and causing hair to become ingrown.
- Stay out of the sun, tanning beds, and pools/hot tubs for 24 hours before and after your waxing appointment.
For best results, repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate.
